If you're looking for more from your visit to wine country than just wine, you can't go past Yarra Valley wine region. Yarra City Council is proud of its heritage and its region, so it strives to show every visitor the best that the Yarra Valley has to offer.

Yarra Valley is fun and easy to explore on your own, so grab a map from the Tourist Information Centre. Then take a look at your options. Over 100 wineries dot the region and all provide something different. You can find accommodation at some, restaurants at others, and guided wine tours of the vineyards.

At certain times of the year, you'll arrive in time for the festivals. The biggest is the Grape Grazing Festival in February each year. This month of the year coincides with the best in Melbourne weather and allows you to immerse yourself in Yarra Valley food, wine, music and great fun for two days.

And it's all only one hour's drive from the Melbourne CBD, so you can stay at one of the many historical homesteads, chalets and motels in Yarra Valley, or you can rent a car at the airport and drive down, if you're staying at a Melbourne hotel.

The area around Melbourne, Victoria produces some of the best wine in Australia. From the Geelong wine region, to Mornington Peninsula, the Macedon Ranges and the Sunbury wine region, there is a huge range of high-quality wine available to connoisseurs.
